We are thrilled to announce that Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group, is expanding our team of specialists with the addition of Ezriel Edward Kornel, MD, FAANS, FACS, starting Wednesday, September 11th, 2024. He is a highly respected neurosurgeon renowned for his expertise in minimally invasive spine and brain surgery, now focusing exclusively on the spine. Dr. Kornel’s arrival underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional care to patients, particularly those dealing with back pain, spine injuries, and related conditions.

Dr. Kornel brings a wealth of experience in treating complex spinal conditions, including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative diseases, tumors, and chronic pain. His approach aligns seamlessly with our mission to provide the highest standard of care. By utilizing state-of-the-art minimally invasive techniques such as microdiscectomy, laminectomy, and various spinal fusions, Dr. Kornel is dedicated to ensuring that our patients experience minimal discomfort and benefit from quicker recovery times.

Dr. Kornel is Board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and holds a medical degree from Rush Medical College. His advanced training, including a Fellowship in Microneurosurgery at the University of Vienna, has equipped him with the skills necessary to handle even the most challenging cases.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Kornel has held academic positions at prestigious institutions such as Weill Cornell School of Medicine, Columbia University School of Medicine, and Yale University School of Medicine. His contributions to the field through research, publications, and speaking engagements on spine surgery and neurological disorders are widely recognized.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Kornel has held leadership roles at several renowned hospitals, including Northern Westchester Hospital, where he served as Chief of Neurosurgery and Director of the Institute of Neurosciences. His dedication to advancing the field of neurosurgery is evident in his work as a consultant, lecturer, and radio show host, where he shares his knowledge with both the medical community and the public.
