Dr. Scott Levin Joins Nuvance Sports Medicine Fellowship as Core Faculty Member

We are excited to announce that Scott Levin, MD, FAAOS, of Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group, has been named a core faculty member for the Nuvance Sports Medicine Fellowship. This prestigious position aligns Dr. Levin with Daniel Howard, MD, FAAOS, another esteemed Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon from Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group with subspecialty Fellowship training in Sports Medicine.

Dr. Levin brings extensive expertise and passion for Sports Medicine to the Fellowship program, now in its second full year. This program is dedicated to preparing the next generation of Sports Medicine physicians, taking in two Fellows each year and providing them with comprehensive training and hands-on experience.

Comprehensive Training and Hands-On Experience

The Nuvance Sports Medicine Fellowship offers a robust curriculum designed to equip Fellows with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in Sports Medicine. Under the guidance of Dr. Levin and Dr. Howard, Fellows gain invaluable experience both in the clinic and on the field.

In-Office Training

Fellows work closely with Dr. Levin and Dr. Howard in the office, learning the intricacies of evaluating and managing musculoskeletal injuries. This includes training in office procedures such as therapeutic injections, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments.

Sideline Experience

Fellows also accompany Dr. Levin and Dr. Howard to high school and collegiate football games, where they gain firsthand experience in managing sports injuries on the field. This unique aspect of the Fellowship provides fellows with a real-world perspective on the urgent care and decision-making required during athletic events.

About the Nuvance Sports Medicine Fellowship

Nuvance Health’s Sports Medicine Fellowship is a 1-year program sponsored by Nuvance Health, open to applicants who have completed Residency training in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine. Each year, the program fills two spots with highly qualified candidates who complete their training over a 12-month span.

The Fellowship aims to produce well-rounded, competent Sports Medicine physicians capable of excelling in various healthcare settings. The rigorous training ensures that fellows are adept at handling the multifaceted demands of Sports Medicine, from preventive care and treatment to rehabilitation and performance enhancement.
